Danielle makes music for the seekers. Blending the soul-deep roots of Tracy Chapman and Joni Mitchell with modern, rhythmic textures of Tems, and atmospheric soundscapes like The War on Drugs, Danielle weaves elements of dreamy folk and alternative pop, where emotional storytelling meets a high-energy presence.

Her songs are born from a life spent holding space for others. Having discovered her songwriting while supporting people through cancer and end-of-life transitions, Danielle’s lyrics carry a weight and wisdom that only comes from witnessing the truth. From the "twisted dreams" of attachment to the freedom of letting go, her music navigates the complex contours of being human. With fresh momentum from her 2025 release Later Is Here, she entered 2026 with a bold new sound with the release of her singles ‘Love in a Different Way’ & ‘Show Me’ earlier this the year. She will be releasing her next single ‘What If’ in early fall.

An afro pop track about the power of staying open even when life tries to shut you down.

Danielle Schroeder - The Ache of Living

Official Lyric Video

Released April 2025

“Drawing from the likes of Joni Mitchell and The War on Drugs, Danielle makes everything feel timeless with the familiar folk vulnerability with the atmospheric pull of alt-rock. You can hear her counsellor soul in every lyric. The deep empathy in her songwriting makes you feel heard, even if you’re not saying a word. And knowing this came from grieving a close friend, it makes every line even more intimate, more weighty.” Illustrate Magazine

“..Each song feels like a sacred revelation, with Schroeder’s vocals acting as the guide through emotional landscapes and deep contemplation.Edgar Allen Poets

Schroeder isn’t just a songwriter — she’s also a counsellor, and that dual role shows up in the emotional intelligence of her music. There’s a rare kind of permission she gives her listener: permission to feel it all, to not have it all together, to grieve publicly and imperfectly. And that might just be the most radical thing about her art. -Odyssey Magazine

“a captivating exploration of folk music, skillfully blending traditional elements with contemporary sensibilities.” The Musical Road
